Responsibilities
- Operate heavy construction machinery including excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, backhoes, water trucks, dump trucks, and water trucks to perform grading, excavation, and site preparation tasks.
- Conduct routine maintenance and safety checks on all equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety regulations.
- Perform construction utility work such as utility locating to accurately identify underground utilities before excavation begins.
- Follow federal construction safety regulations and equipment safety procedures diligently to maintain a safe work environment for all team members.
- Assist with horizontal drilling operations and other specialized tasks related to construction utility installation.
- Support paving activities by preparing surfaces and operating paving equipment as needed.
- Collaborate with project managers and site crews to execute grading plans and excavation requirements efficiently.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating heavy construction machinery such as excavators, dozers (Caterpillar preferred), loaders, graders, backhoes, dump trucks, water trucks, and tankers in a construction setting.
- Knowledge of construction grading, excavation techniques, and site preparation processes.
- Ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment including mechanical troubleshooting and repairs.
- Familiarity with construction utility work including utility locating and horizontal drilling procedures.
- Valid commercial driver’s license with experience in commercial truck driving; CDL certification is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of federal construction safety regulations and adherence to safety protocols at all times.
- Construction site experience demonstrating knowledge of safety regulations, equipment operation, and project coordination.
- Mechanical knowledge related to construction machinery maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and following detailed instructions.
