Responsibilities
- Assist lead teachers in implementing age-appropriate curriculum and activities that promote childhood development and learning.
- Supervise children during indoor and outdoor play, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Support children with daily routines such as meal times, nap schedules, diapering, and hygiene practices in accordance with health standards.
- Engage children in educational activities that develop their social skills, motor skills, language abilities, and emotional regulation.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's progress, behavior, and any concerns to foster a collaborative relationship.
- Maintain a clean, organized classroom environment that encourages exploration and safety.
- Follow mandated reporting laws to report any signs of neglect or abuse promptly and appropriately.
- Assist with classroom management strategies to promote positive behavior and respectful interactions among children.
- Support children with special needs or disabilities by implementing individualized care plans under supervision.
- Participate in ongoing training on child development instruction, first aid (including pediatric first aid), CPR, and safety protocols to ensure best practices are followed.
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in a daycare center, preschool, or similar childcare setting is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices is essential.
- Experience working with children with disabilities or special needs is a valuable asset.
- Demonstrated ability to manage classroom behavior effectively through positive reinforcement and behavior management techniques.
- Familiarity with child supervision standards, classroom experience, nannying, babysitting or caregiving roles will strengthen your application.
- Certification in first aid and CPR (including pediatric first aid) is required or obtainable upon hire.
- Strong communication skills for parent interaction and teamwork within a childcare environment are necessary.
