We are seeking an individual who is Committed, Kind, Knowledgeable and Respectful to assume our Director of Health Services (Nursing) role (Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse) and be a part of an excellent, collaborative team at our beautiful Wadsworth Campus.
SUMMARY OF POSITION
In accordance with the mission and values of The Village of St. Edward, the Director of Health Services (Nursing) for our Assisted Living/Memory Care units is responsible for providing 24-hour overall leadership and management of the health and wellbeing of the residents living in assisted living and memory care communities at the site in which they are assigned (including independent living communities if applicable based on site). In addition, this position has 24-hour responsibility to organize, supervise and direct the staff assigned within their credentials and position, works on an on-call rotation with Assistant Director of Health Services and the floor if needed, markets the program, participates in continued professional development, and performs other job duties as assigned.
General Representation of the key duties and responsibilities of this position are below (not an all-inclusive list); other duties may be assigned, as required:
- Coordinates all care services provided in Assisted Living/Memory Care/Independent Living and utilizes Fairlawn Skilled Nursing Care Director of Nursing (RN) for clinical support for residents as needed.
- Demonstrates the ability, knowledge, and skills necessary to provide nursing care appropriate to the residents served. Utilizes the nursing process.
- Demonstrates leadership abilities by presenting as a professional role model to staff, developing collaborative relationships, using interpersonal skills effectively including the ability to communicate, solve problems, make decisions, supervise and direct care provided by nursing assistants, and assist in orientation and education of staff.
- Monitors work performance of all staff. When directing tasks requiring urgent attention, the Director of Health Services advises appropriate department director after task has been delegated. For tasks needing attention but are not urgent in nature, the Director of Health Services will advise the appropriate department director with their recommendation.
- Works closely with Executive Director and appropriate individuals to ensure clinical rules are met in daily operations. Advises department directors/supervisors, Executive Director, and Chief Operating Officer/VP of Operations as necessary.
- In conjunction with The Village of St. Edward Admissions and Marketing Team, processes resident applications, conducts tours of the facility, completes and assists with the admissions process as necessary.
- Assists and/or attends special functions sponsored by The Village of St. Edward.
- Monitors the AL/MC Department’s contracts to assure compliance with terms and conditions. Works with the Executive Director to maintain list of current contracts on organizational chart.
- Promotes opportunities for participation in activities by all the residents according to their needs, interests and abilities, both physical and mental.
- Interviews STNA/Resident Assistants and Nurses.
- Responsible for effective resident relations, to include handling of resident concerns and resident suggestions.
- Works with Medicaid Waiver residents and updates case manager as appropriate
- Monitors expenditures against budget.
- Participates in “on-call” rotation with nurse management team.
- Supports the philosophy of person-centered care by actively participating in the person-centered care process. Fosters development and enhancement of person-centered care practices.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
