Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in clinical procedures, patient care, and medical administrative support, with experience across various specialties including dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, and outpatient clinics. The Medical Assistant will be instrumental in supporting physicians and healthcare providers by ensuring smooth clinic operations and delivering compassionate patient care.
Duties
- Perform patient intake procedures, including recording medical histories and verifying insurance information.
- Measure and document vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates with accuracy.
- Assist healthcare providers during examinations and minor procedures across diverse specialties.
- Prepare patients for treatment or diagnostic procedures, ensuring comfort and understanding of the process.
- Support clinical tasks such as medication administration, wound care processing, and basic tasks when necessary.
- Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems efficiently to document patient encounters, update medical histories, and code diagnoses using ICD coding standards.
- Coordinate with hospital departments for inpatient or Level I/II trauma center cases, including PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) or OR (Operating Room) support when required.
- Maintain supplies inventory and ensure cleanliness of exam rooms following safety protocols.
- Provide exceptional patient service by addressing questions or concerns promptly and professionally.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology relevant to outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Proficiency in EHR systems for documentation, scheduling, and billing purposes.
- Strong understanding of dermatology procedures, urgent care protocols, medical-surgical practices, internal medicine, and emergency medicine workflows.
- Ability to perform basic diagnostic tasks or assist with medication administration accurately.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of diverse backgrounds.
