Full-time position Monday to Friday.
JOB SUMMARY: The Laboratory Assistant /Accessioner is a service position that provides important support to the technical staff and pathologist, so that the lab can maintain technically current and operate smoothly. This is a position in a Histology Laboratory. The ability to work around tissue samples from the human body is part of the position. The ideal candidate has an interest in the medical laboratory sciences. Prior experience in accessioning is preferred, but we are willing to train.
Laboratory Aide/Accessioner:
- Accessioning both manually and by interface.
- Clerical Duties: Typing, Faxing, Answering Client Service Calls, Filing, Scanning Receiving Specimen from Endoscopy suite and any additional clients
- Record Keeping: Maintain chain of custody of pathology material (tissue blocks/ glass slides).
- Assisting with inventory of laboratory supplies
- Assisting with Quality Control Logs in the Grossing Laboratory (Temp/Humidity logs/Cleaning Audit/Eyewash)
- Cleaning and disinfecting the grossing laboratory
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by Pathologist, Laboratory Coordinator or Histotechnician.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
HS Graduate Required
Knowledge of Excel and MS Word
Good Communication Skills
Ability to follow direction
Ability to work independently or in a group setting.
MISC. REQUIREMENTS:
May require long periods of standing, sitting.
Ability to lift 25lbs.
