POSITION REQUIREMENTS
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES: Current Illinois nursing license. Current BLS & ACLS certification. PALS not required but preferred.
TOTAL EDUCATION, VOCATIONAL TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. At least one year of PACU and/or critical care experience.

- Participates in staff meetings.
- Is knowledgeable of and in compliance with administrative, medical and nursing policies and procedures.
- Reports to supervisor needed repairs or maintenance of equipment or building. In the absence of the supervisor notifies the appropriate repair services and follows up to be certain the problem is resolved.
- Participates in inventory count.
- Assists with housekeeping tasks.
- Receives and documents physician orders.
- Is knowledgeable about Medical staff privileges.
- Is knowledgeable about response to emergency situations (i.e., cardiac arrest, malignant hyperthermia, drug reactions, fire, etc.)
- Performs all duties assigned by supervisor.
- Participates in the Organization Quality Improvement process and activities including the areas of safety, infection control, patient education, teaching, documentation, adherence to guidelines for cleaning/decontamination of the center, adherence to guidelines for sterilization of instruments and supplies, patient satisfaction, physician satisfaction, compliance with OSHA standards and risk management.
- Demonstrates competency in performing job task and operating equipment on an annual basis.
- Possesses clinical skills necessary to provide quality care to all patient age populations from pediatric to geriatric patients.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Checks updated schedule each morning and prepares room supplies and equipment.
- Checks and documents defibrillator and laryngoscope functions each morning.
- Admits patient according to procedure.
- Administers and charts medications as ordered by physician.
- Reinforces and clarifies physician instructions and explanation of procedures to patient.
- Provides nursing care and appropriate monitoring according to policies and procedures.
- Communicates relevant information to physician, Administrator, and appropriate staff.
- Provides for patient safety by use of monitors, side rails, and assistance in ambulating and instruction on the use of call bell in bathroom.
- Completes Pre-operative and Recovery Room charting.
- Reviews written post-operative instructions with patient and/or family member.
- Completes inventory sheet.
- Provides emergency care according to physician and administrative policy.
- Discharges patient upon order of anesthesiologist and/or attending physician accordance with procedure.
- Arranges transfer of patient to hospital, as needed, according to procedure as ordered by physicians.
- Sets priorities to facilitate the flow of patient efficiently.
- Cleans equipment according to procedure.
- Assists with pre-operative and post-operative calls.
- Reviews charts for completeness and signatures of physicians.
- Prepares and restocks area for following day.
- Checks inventory and notifies appropriate staff member to re-order.
- Notifies appropriate staff member to order non-drug supplies.
- Assists with cleaning of recovery room according to policies and procedures.
- Initiates appropriate infection control measures'

Pay: $38.00 - $44.00 per hour
