PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Assists with management of overall daily operations of the designated Clubhouse with the primary concern for programs, service delivery, and membership administration. Serves as acting Club Leadership in absence of the Club Director.
KEY ROLES:
Leadership
- Assists with establishing programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success and that create a Club environment that facilitates achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.
- Maintains a healthy and safe environment; ensuring facilities, equipment and supplies are maintained.
Program Implementation
- Implements high yield learning activities provided
- Monitor programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, program quality and appearance of Club.
Prepare Youth for Success
- Creates an environment that facilities the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes:
Promote and stimulate program participation
Provide guidance and role modeling to members
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with staff on special events to carry out programs in all departments.
- May be required to lead a group of youth
- Exercise authority in problems relating to members; utilize and implement discipline policy.
- Assume other duties as assigned.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club professional staff to interpret and explain organizational mission, program objectives and standards, discuss issues, and provide/receive information. Maintains contact with Club/Unit Director and Director of Operations. Has regular contact with members as needed to lead, redirect, and counsel.
External: Maintains contact with parents/guardians to assist in resolving problems; only in the absence of the Club/Unit Director
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Two-year degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent college credits.
- A minimum of one-year work experience in a Boys & Girls Club, planning and supervising high yield programs; or equivalent youth development experience.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Basic knowledge/computer skills including, but not limited to Microsoft Office
- Ability to supervise and positively motivate staff.
- Ability to deal effectively with members, including discipline problems.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Frequently lifts, carries or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Frequently bends, kneels and crouches. Repetitive movement of hands, arms and legs, sweeping, vacuuming, and moping. May drive vehicle if needed. Continuous walking, standing and moving about.
