Summary/Objective
The Process Engineer Co-op supports manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives through hands-on project work including but not limited to automation efforts, yield improvement projects, time studies, equipment optimization, manufacturing trials, capital equipment improvements, and process documentation. This role provides practical experience executing engineering projects from problem definition through implementation while delivering measurable operational improvements.

- Optimizes machinery to add automation and update equipment capabilities and performance.
- Analyzes equipment downtime data and develops action plans to improve OEE, yield and reliability. Develop and utilize key reliability metrics to consistently measure performance and capability.
- Identifies new equipment and technologies to support continuous improvement and capacity expansion.
- Troubleshoots daily operational challenges; first point of contact for shift teams.
- Leads process improvement teams identifying and escalating all areas of improvement.
- Researches and identifies root cause on customer complaints. Work with team to develop and implement corrective action plan and implementation.
- Leads capital projects from define through commercialization. These can include equipment upgrades and new installations.
- Work with operations leaders to develop efficient, standardized work processes
- Assists in development of the annual capital strategy.
Knowledge & Skills
- Full-time student pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Materials, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
- Strong mechanical inclination and a hands-on approach to troubleshooting and working with Maintenance.
- Proven knowledge in process equipment and instrumentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills, well organized, systems/process thinker.

This position does not have any direct reports.
Work Environment
This job operates in a Manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and Manufacturing equipment such as pallet jacks, powered and hand tools.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This position requires the ability to occasionally lift equipment and tools, up to 35 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30am. to 4:00 pm. Based on business activity longer hours maybe required and must be flexible in work hours. Will be on-call for trouble-shooting and support for 24/7 manufacturing operation.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be necessary.
