Job Summary:
A Form Setter erects and sets wood and/or metal forms for concrete structures, such as sidewalks, walls, and slab on grade. In this position, you will install forms for set concrete placement and perform labor duties as deemed necessary.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist with constructing vertical forms for columns and retaining walls.
- Bolt, nail, block, and align forms as directed by the form and to the layout provided.
- Dig ditches and level earth to fine grade specifications, using pick, shovels, and rakes.
- Grade dirt and concrete efficiently and accurately.
- Construct forms, then assist in raising them to the required elevation.
- Must perform general laborers’ duties as needed.
- Regular attendance is required according to company policy to ensure the crew can operate at a normal efficiency level.
- Adheres to procedures, regulations, and guidelines while minimizing errors and safety risks.
- Follow instructions and comprehend construction needs.
- Performs other duties of a similar or related nature as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of concrete tools, carpentry tools, techniques, and practices.
- Adept at making prompt decisions and effectively addressing unexpected challenges or situations.
- Proficient in the use of power tools.
- Effective communication skills to work effectively and safely.
- An understanding of the construction field, process, and practices.
- Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
- Able to work a flexible schedule with last-minute schedule, location, time of shift change (day & night), and overtime work as needed.
Education and Experience:
- High School or equivalent (preferred).
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience in the construction industry.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent walking on uneven surfaces, including ground in varying weather conditions.
- May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
- Able to push, pull, lift, and carry 80+ lbs.
- Kneel, bend, and stoop repeatedly for extended periods or continually throughout the shift.
- Regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
- Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the outdoor elements.
- Exposure to outdoor environment with machinery/equipment in the surrounding area.
- Able to wear personal protective equipment is required, including but not limited to steel-toe shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest, etc.
