The Regional Nurse Consultant is responsible for providing support to long term care facilities to ensure the safety and well-being of residents. The person holding this position is delegated the responsibility for carrying out the assigned duties and responsibilities in accordance with current existing federal and state regulations and established company policies and procedures.
Conducts on-site visits to assess each facility’s compliance with company policies/procedures and governmental regulations
Assists with the development and revision of clinical policies and procedures to ensure compliance with governmental regulations and current standards of practice
Assists Administrators & DONs in educating, implementing systems, monitoring, and developing improvement plans in order to promote positive resident outcomes
Helps develop short and long-term goals and objectives consistent with company standards and governmental regulations
Acts as a support system to the facilities as needed throughout the state survey process, including assistance with survey prep, writing a corrective action plan, and monitoring for compliance
Works with Administrators, Directors of Nursing, and Regional Director in the screening of applicants for nurse management positions
Helps train nursing department and facility management on governmental regulations and company policies and procedures when requested by facility
Partners with other consultation staff to develop and implement action plans to assist facility departments in improving compliance
Collaborates with all compliance departments
Conducts preventative and complaint driven audits of clinical compliance issues at each facility
Completes and submits detailed facility visit reports and audit results specifying compliance issues ad corrective action
Assess, trouble-shoot, and problem-solve to meet the needs of the facilities, residents, and clinical staff
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Current RN license in the state that the company operates. BSN or MSN preferred. Must possess a valid drivers’ license and current auto insurance. A minimum of 3-5 years previous experience as a DON in a skilled nursing facility. Must have 8 years previous experience in a healthcare setting.
