Key Responsibilities:

Locate and mark underground utilities (fiber optic, gas, electric, water, sewer, etc.) using specialized equipment.

Interpret utility maps, blueprints, and GIS data to ensure accurate locating.

Utilize electromagnetic locating devices and ground-penetrating radar as needed.

Clearly mark utility locations using paint, flags, and other approved methods in accordance with industry standards.

Communicate effectively with contractors, crews, and project managers regarding utility locations and potential conflicts.

Document all locates, including photos, sketches, and reports, using company systems and applications.
-
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and local/state guidelines (e.g., 811 requirements).

Respond to emergency locate requests as needed.

Maintain and care for company-provided equipment and vehicles.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required.
-
Previous experience in utility locating, construction, or telecommunications preferred.

Ability to read and interpret maps, prints, and technical documents.
-
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
-
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
-
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain.
-
Comfortable using technology (tablets, GPS systems, locating equipment).

Strong communication and time management skills.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to walk long distances and work on uneven terrain.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Ability to bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
Work Environment:

Primarily field-based work in outdoor environments.
-
May require early mornings, evenings, weekends, or on-call availability.
