Accountant Position Description
Job title: Payroll Accountant
Reports to: Controller
Position type: Full-time (30 or more hours a week)
High level overview:
We are seeing a detail-oriented accounting professional to join our finance team. This role focuses on processing payroll, maintaining accurate financial records and supporting overall financial integrity.
Responsibilities:
Payroll:
- Completes timely and accurate payrolls; ensures all hours are entered correctly and converted from POS/time management systems to our payroll system, manages tip allocation, ensures overtime and Sunday premium are properly applied, effectively calculates incentive pay and imports payroll journal entry from payroll system to accounting system
- Serves as the primary point of contact for staff payroll inquiries regarding paychecks, paid time off, taxes, etc.
- Provides analysis of payroll costs to owners and management
- Handle confidential information with the utmost discretion while managing sensitive payroll data
- In office attendance required to align with our bi-weekly payroll cycles
Daily Sales
- Reviews and analyzes daily sales and tax journal entries imported from Toast into QuickBooks
Sales Tax:
- Calculates state and city sales tax and files monthly
- Manages all tax-exempt forms and stores them appropriately
Other tasks:
- Supports Controller in other miscellaneous accounting projects and activities
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in payroll management and general bookkeeping; restaurant industry experience is a plus
- Proven track record of processing end-to-end bi-weekly payroll with 100% accuracy and strict adherence to deadlines
- Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting/HRIS systems; Paycom and/or QuickBooks experience is a plus
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive financial and employee data
- Ability to work independently as well as on a team
- Strong communications skills both written and oral
- Excellent human relation skills and ability to work with diverse populations
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
