WE ARE SPECIFICALLY LOOKING FOR A PREK TEACHER AND A TODDLER TEACHER (WORKING WITH 1's and 2's).
At the Lerner School, the Early Childhood Center is focused on exploring, imaging, and creating. Children will explore Jewish life and values; imagine and engage in enriching experiences; all while creating a meaningful community. To provide an inclusive Jewish environment, while meeting the guidelines set forth by the National Association for the Education of Young Children regarding five interrelated dimensions of early childhood practice. These dimensions are:
1. Creating a caring community of learners;
2. Teaching to enhance development and learning;
3. Constructing appropriate curriculum that dovetails with early learning standards through a variety of multisensory activities and follows curriculum themes;
4. Continually observing and assessing children’s learning and development; and
5. Establishing reciprocal relationships with all families.
These dimensions are infused on the program each day through the programs learning through play educational philosophy and developmental building blocks.
Our Teaching staff will:
- Embrace the mission and philosophy of the school and infuse the five core dimensions into their daily practice
- Provide high-quality care to our children and families in a manner which reflects the mission and values of the school
- Design and implement engaging, purposeful, and developmentally age-appropriate curriculum
- Challenge each child to reach their potential, and guide their activities academically, emotionally, physically, and spiritually
- Rotate classroom materials regularly based on the observed interests of the children, monthly themes, and developmental stage
- Track children’s progress, complete evaluations and conduct fall and spring parent-teacher conferences
- Be collaborative in nature and team oriented working closely with co-teacher and rest of school team
- Participate as an active member of the school community to provide stewardship of the school, supporting community events as needed
- Seek professional growth opportunities to maintain knowledge of cutting edge pedagogy
This position will report to the Early Childhood Center Director.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree or minimum number of credits in Early Childhood Education or an ECE related field; or a CDA
· A minimum of two years’ experience working with young children in a supervised setting
· Experience developing and implementing curriculum; and utilizing structure and unstructured time to assess child development
· Excellent knowledge of child development and latest pedagogy through professional development and formal learning experiences
· Must be detail oriented with strong organizational abilities, written and verbal communication skills, and analytical skills
· Positive approach to work, with ability to work independently as well as in a team setting
· Knowledge of Jewish culture and traditions
· Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations. For Infant and Young Toddler teachers, must be able to properly lift infants into and out of a crib and use changing table.
