Essential Responsibilities
As a Medical Lab Technician, you will:
- Receive and process specimens from phlebotomists and couriers.
- Enter patient demographics and test orders into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Perform laboratory testing in:
- Chemistry
- Hematology
- Urinalysis
- Molecular Testing
- Coagulation
- Point-of-Care Testing
- Perform quality control procedures before reporting patient results.
- Review and verify laboratory results, escalating abnormal or unusual findings to the supervisor when appropriate.
- Collect blood specimens through venipuncture and capillary collection.
- Process specimens and maintain accurate documentation.
- Monitor STAT testing turnaround times to ensure timely reporting.
- Perform routine instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Maintain laboratory inventory and quality control documentation.
- Ensure specimen integrity, accurate identification, testing, and reporting.
- Follow all HIPAA, infection control, laboratory safety, and quality assurance standards.
- Perform additional laboratory duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Required for All Applicants
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid California Driver's License with a safe driving record.
- Familiarity with laboratory workflow and processes.
- Active California State License applicable to your credential.
