We are hiring a Technical Writer to support a client in Annapolis Junction, MD. This is a mid-level role focused on creating and maintaining technical documentation for software, systems, operations, and program support.
The ideal candidate has experience working with developers and technical teams to gather information, organize complex subject matter, and produce clear documentation, user guides, manuals, reports, briefings, and training materials for a wide range of audiences.
Assist in preparing and maintaining operations documentation, user guides, manuals, and technical publications.
Create code documentation and software-related technical documentation.
Gather technical information from developers, engineers, and subject matter experts.
Prepare written technical content for various types of program and project documents.
Maintain a current internal documentation library.
Use tools such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and other documentation/presentation tools.
Work with developers to produce high-quality documentation and training materials.
Support all phases of the documentation process, from research and drafting through review, editing, formatting, and final delivery.
Prepare reports, responses, and briefings targeted to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Coordinate document layout, formatting, and design.
Research highly technical subject matter, organize information from multiple sources, and translate it into written content that is clear and understandable to a broad audience.
Review documentation for grammar, accuracy, consistency, readability, and compliance with customer standards.
Active TS/SCI with Polygraph.
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
6 years of experience creating technical documentation for software, systems, programs, or technical projects.
Ability to write technical copy for various types of documents.
Strong understanding of basic grammar, formatting, and documentation standards.
Experience gathering technical information and preparing clear written text.
Experience preparing and maintaining operations documentation, user guides, manuals, and technical publications.
Ability to work with developers and technical teams to produce documentation and training materials.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and related documentation tools.
Ability to research technical subject matter and organize information from multiple sources.
Strong written communication, editing, organization, and attention-to-detail skills.
Experience documenting software, code, or technical systems.
Experience supporting DoD, Intelligence Community, or federal customer environments.
Experience maintaining documentation libraries or repositories.
Experience creating training materials, briefings, process documents, or technical reports.
Familiarity with software development, systems engineering, or technical operations environments.
Ability to create diagrams, workflows, and visual aids using tools such as Visio or PowerPoint.

Paid Time Off: PTO accrues at a rate of 13% of hours worked, which equals approximately 6 weeks, or 30 days, per year for a typical full-time employee.
