Body Technician/Grinder

Work includes the installation and customization of service bodies, flatbeds, trailers, specialty equipment, lighting, and other work truck accessories.
Position Summary
Seeking a dependable Grinder to join our production team. This position is responsible for preparing, smoothing, and finishing metal components for truck bodies and fabricated parts. The Grinder will use hand tools, power grinders, sanders, and other finishing tools to remove weld spatter, sharp edges, surface imperfections, and rough areas. This role helps ensure each product has a clean, professional finish before moving into paint or final assembly.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare service bodies, fabricated parts, and other work truck structures for priming and painting
- Grind, sand, and polish metal components, weld joints, and fabricated surfaces
- Remove weld spatter, rough edges, surface imperfections, and minor deformities from fabricated parts
- Caulk joints and seams as needed
- Apply body filler/Bondo and sand surfaces smooth
- Perform surface preparation and final wipe-down before products enter the paint booth
- Work closely with welders, fabricators, and painters to maintain production flow
- Keep work areas, tools, and equipment clean and in safe working condition
- Follow all shop safety procedures and use required PPE
Qualifications
- 1+ year of experience in a manufacturing, metal fabrication, or shop environment
- Experience using grinders, sanders, hand tools, and power tools
- Ability to follow basic shop drawings, work instructions, or production direction
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented
- Willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced production environment
