Scope & General Purpose: The Savory Prep Cook supports Executive Chef Tristan Beausoleil in carrying out the vision and production goals of the savory kitchen. This hands-on role supports both the bakery and coffee bar by producing prepackaged sandwiches, breakfast grab-and-go items, dips, granola, house-made coffee syrups, and other high-volume products while maintaining strong standards for quality, consistency, food safety, and organization.
Production Focus: The Savory Prep Cook organizes and executes daily production, scales recipes, prepares and cooks products, and ensures finished items are properly cooled, portioned, packaged, labeled, and stored.

Management Structure: Reports to Executive Chef Tristan Beausoleil. The Savory Prep Cook works independently, leads by example during production, communicates priorities clearly, and ensures the Executive Chef's standards and production decisions are carried out consistently.
Savory Prep Cook Responsibilities
● Produce prepackaged sandwiches before opening, breakfast grab-and-go items, dips, granola, house-made coffee syrups, and other large-batch products.
● Review prep lists and production needs; organize mise en place and sequence work efficiently.
● Scale and execute recipes accurately and use kitchen equipment safely.
● Cook, cool, portion, package, label, date, store, and rotate products according to food-safety and allergen-safe standards.
● Maintain the flavor, appearance, portion size, yield, and consistency standards established by the Executive Chef.
● Coordinate workflow, communicate priorities, and follow up on assigned production.
● Monitor ingredients, packaging, and finished products; communicate shortages and waste and occasionally assist with ordering and receiving.
● Follow sanitation, allergen-control, temperature-control, and food-handling procedures; promptly report safety or equipment concerns.
● Maintain a clean, organized, respectful shared kitchen and coordinate production needs with other departments.
● Participate in product testing, research and development, and cross-department collaboration on new offerings.
● Ability to take drink orders in the Coffee Bar is a plus
Job Requirements
● At least two years of experience in a professional kitchen, including strong savory cooking skills; high-volume or large-batch production experience is preferred.
● A culinary degree or certificate is preferred, but not required.
● ServSafe certification is a plus.
● Ability to read, scale, and follow recipes accurately in a clean, organized manner while sharing space with other departments and minimizing waste.
● Knowledge of professional sanitation, cooling, labeling, storage, food-safety, and allergen-control practices.
● Ability to follow prep lists, prioritize work, and complete production with limited supervision.
● Self-motivated, hard-working, and proud of high-quality work, with exceptional communication, and time-management skills; retail or customer-facing experience is a plus.
● Must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States.
Physical Demands
● Stand and walk for nine to ten hours during a workday.
● Use hands to operate kitchen equipment and work; squat, bend, twist, and reach as needed.
● Move up to 50 pounds, including ingredients, equipment, finished products, and trash.
● Smell and taste food and beverages for quality control, with reasonable accommodation.
● Communicate with coworkers to support accurate production with reasonable accommodation.
Schedule Overview
Sunday-Tuesday: 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.; Wednesday: 10:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m.
