We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential care and support for animals in our facility, ensuring their health and well-being while maintaining a clean and safe environment. The ideal candidate will possess a love for animals and have experience in handling various breeds and sizes.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for dogs and other animals, including feeding, walking, and exercising them.
- Maintain cleanliness in the kennel area by regularly cleaning cages, play areas, and common spaces.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to the veterinary staff or management.
- Assist with grooming tasks such as bathing, brushing, and nail trimming as needed.
- Support pet sitting services by ensuring pets receive proper attention and care during their stay.
- Help with administrative tasks such as record keeping and scheduling appointments for grooming or veterinary services.
- Engage with pet owners to provide updates on their pets’ well-being and address any questions or concerns.
Skills
- Proficient in dog handling techniques to ensure safe interactions with various breeds.
- Experience in pet sitting or providing care for animals in a home or kennel environment.
- Knowledge of basic pet grooming practices is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology or experience as a veterinary technician or assistant is a plus.
- Strong animal care skills, including the ability to recognize signs of distress or illness in pets.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary, such as moving large bags of food or equipment.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with team members and pet owners.
- A genuine passion for animal welfare and commitment to providing high-quality care.
