The Safety and Classroom Training Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the effective training of drivers and designated employees in alignment with company policies and safety standards. This role includes supervising both classroom and behind-the-wheel (BTW) training activities. The Supervisor plays a key role in upholding Hotard Shuttle's commitment to safety, operational excellence, and exceptional customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Although additional duties and related tasks may be assigned, the essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:
Driver Training and Development
- Conduct and coordinate classroom and behind-the-wheel (BTW) training for drivers, including onboarding, post-accident retraining, and ongoing proficiency evaluations.
- Deliver regulatory and compliance-based training in accordance with federal, state, and company standards.
- Administer road tests and maintain complete and accurate testing records in driver qualification and safety files.
- Facilitate and support driver training programs such as safety skills testing and Samsara Training.
- Maintain a BTW presence as needed to stay familiar with field operations and support training consistency.
Route & Vehicle Familiarization
- Provide route and vehicle-specific training for new and existing commuter assignments to ensure safe and efficient performance.
- Assist with route evaluations and updates in support of operational safety.
File & Record Management
- Maintain accurate and organized personnel and qualification files for all training types, including new hire, post-incident, retraining, and ongoing proficiency evaluations.
- Ensure all training documentation is complete, up to date, and audit-ready to support regulatory and internal compliance requirements.
Safety Program Support
- Assist with planning and facilitating quarterly driver safety meetings with defined goals and performance metrics.
- Collaborate with the Safety and Compliance Manager and Director of Safety and Training on incident documentation and collision subrogation processes.
- Support accident/incident response, including scene review, driver interviews, and coordination with local authorities.
- Promote Hotard Shuttle's safety culture as a representative of the Safety and Training department across all locations and sister companies.
Program Improvement & Collaboration
- Research and recommend updated training tools and methods to enhance driver education and retention.
- Collaborate with managers and staff to define safety-related goals and contribute to departmental success.
- Contribute to broader safety initiatives and support continuous improvement within the training program.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education / Experience Required:
- Minimum 2 years' total experience with CDL (Class A or B)
- Minimum 1-year experience operating vehicle "in-type" (similar to prospective position)
- Previous experience supervising staff is preferred, but not required
- Safety, Training and DOT Regulation experience is required
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Class A or B Driver's License with a passenger endorsement and air brakes certification required
