Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify appointments, and manage scheduling using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft to ensure efficient patient flow
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments according to infection prevention management protocols and aseptic techniques
- Assist dentists during procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry with chairside assistance and four-handed dentistry techniques
- Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans while adhering to dental sterilization procedures and radiation safety standards
- Record vital signs, medical history, and dental information accurately in medical documentation systems while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Manage patient records by updating medical records, coding procedures for billing purposes, and ensuring compliance with medical documentation standards
- Handle administrative tasks such as answering phones, managing patient inquiries, verifying insurance coverage, and coordinating appointments efficiently
Requirements
- Proven experience in dental assisting and reception within a general dentistry or pediatric dentistry setting
- Proficiency with EMR systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and dental x-ray procedures
- Familiarity with infection prevention management including sterilization procedures, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection control expertise
- Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners safely and effectively
- Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with patients of all ages including pediatrics
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times
- Certification in dental radiography (X-ray) is preferred; additional certifications in pediatric dentistry or endodontics are a plus
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
