In this vital role, you will support the kitchen by preparing ingredients, assisting with meal assembly, and maintaining a clean, organized work environment. Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients according to recipes, including chopping, slicing, and portioning with proper knife skills and slicing techniques
- Assist in meal preparation by assembling dishes following established menu plans and recipe adherence
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including mixers, ovens, slicers, and other culinary tools
- Maintain cleanliness of work stations by following food safety management protocols, cleaning surfaces, utensils, and equipment regularly
- Support the kitchen staff with food handling tasks to ensure compliance with safety standards in production and food safety regulations
- Assist with inventory management by organizing supplies and notifying supervisors of stock shortages or equipment needs
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate meal prep activities and uphold high standards of food quality and safety
Experience
- Previous dietary department or dietary aide experience is highly desirable
- Food service or restaurant experience demonstrating familiarity with food preparation and safety standards
- Knowledge of menu planning, catering practices, and culinary techniques is a plus
- Strong understanding of food handling procedures, safety standards in production, and food safety management systems
- Experience operating kitchen equipment such as slicers, mixers, ovens, and other culinary tools
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with kitchen staff and team members
- Proven ability to follow recipes accurately while maintaining efficiency in a fast-paced environment
