Tharanco Group designs, sources, and sells Men’s (Golf Apparel, Dress Shirts, Active/Outdoor Apparel) and Women’s (Dresses, Sweater & Knit Tops) apparel to major retailers and boutiques/pro-shops in the US and through its own Direct to Consumer channels (Ecommerce & Retail Stores). Position Overview:
- We are seeking a strong, product-driven, team-oriented Designer to join our growing team.
- This role requires a commercially minded individual who can develop both core essentials and fashion-forward products while continuing to evolve and strengthen the brand's signature styles.
- The ideal candidate has a keen eye for trends, color, prints, fabrics, and fit, combined with a strong understanding of the speed and demands of the big-box and value retail market.
- They should be able to balance creative vision with commercial viability to deliver products that resonate with customers.
- This individual will play a key role in identifying new product opportunities and developing seasonal assortments, leading the design process from initial concept through production.
- The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure products meet brand standards, customer expectations, and business objectives
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop seasonal assortments across core basics, fashion products, and key item categories.
- Maintain and evolve core brand styles while identifying opportunities for product innovation and growth.
- Research and identify relevant market trends and emerging product opportunities to support seasonal assortment strategies.
- Analyze trends in color, print, pattern, fabric, fit, and silhouette across golf, lifestyle, and competitive markets.
- Develop seasonally relevant color palettes, print concepts, and pattern stories that align with brand and customer needs.
- Partner with internal and remote CAD teams to execute prints, patterns, and artwork development.
- Design and develop trims and product details, including buttons, zippers, tapes branding elements, and specialty finishes.
- Maintain a strong understanding of performance fabrics, garment construction, fabric finishes, fit considerations, and functional product features.
- Create, update, and maintain detailed Tech Packs and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Organize and maintain seasonal development archives, including lab dips, strike-o s, artwork libraries, and sample records.
- Collaborate closely with Technical Design and actively participate in weekly fit sessions and product review meetings.
- Develop and maintain seasonal line sheets, CAD presentations, and customer-facing product tools for both retail and club channels.
- Support the development of on product marketing materials, including hangtags, labels, pocket flashers, and packaging components.
- Execute assortments that align with business objectives, customer requirements, and SKU productivity strategies.
- Adhere to established product development calendars and ensure all milestones and deadlines are achieved.
- Respond quickly to fast-track opportunities and evolving customer or business needs.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Design Leadership, Merchandising, Product Development, and Technical Design throughout the seasonal development process.
- Partner with Merchandising from concept development through final BOM review and product approval to ensure product and commercial alignment.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 5-7+ years of apparel design experience, preferably within sportswear, golf, lifestyle, or value retail environments.
- Strong understanding of designing for the retail market and the full product lifecycle, from concept through production.
- Proven ability to create commercially successful assortments that balance fashion-driven innovation with core product needs.
- Strong color sensibility and a deep understanding of print, pattern, and graphic development.
- Knowledge of print techniques and production processes across both synthetic and natural fabrications.
- Experience collaborating with fabric mills and suppliers to develop new fabric innovations, engineer fabrics, and manage fabric counter developments.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, trims, and performance fabric attributes.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while managing multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive approach to identifying opportunities, solving problems, and improving processes.
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and cross-functional communication skills.
- Passion for product creation and a strong understanding of the apparel product development process.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and industry-standard apparel design tools; experience with PLM systems.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design or related field preferred.
Pay: $85,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
