Methodist Family Center Preschool is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and nurturing early childhood educator to join us in providing quality care and education to children in our community.
Methodist Family Center Preschool, Inc. (MFCP) is a United Methodist Church affiliated Preschool providing early childhood education for children ages two through five. The MFCP was established in 1994 to serve the community as part of the mission of the Darien United Methodist Church. Responsibilities include:
- Plan and implement engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans, utilizing the CT Early Learning and Development Standards
- Design and organize activities that promote physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development
- Monitor child development, observing and documenting child’s progress and behavior
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about their child’s development, building a supportive partnership
- Maintain a safe environment, ensuring the classroom is clean, sanitized, organized, free of hazards, and supervising children by sight and sound and at all times
- Promote positive behavior, implementing discipline strategies that encourage positive behavior and teach toddlers how to interact respectfully with others
- Collaborate with colleagues, working cooperatively with co-teachers to coordinate activities, share resources, ensure consistency in classroom management and curriculum implementation, and attend staff meetings
- Attend to children's basic needs by assisting with feeding, diapering, and toilet training, as well as fostering independence with self-care tasks
- Comply with all current state and local educational requirements and enforce all administration policies, rules, and procedures
- Complete professional development, participating in training and workshops to stay updated on best practices in early childhood education and child development
Preferred candidates have:
- Background in early childhood education (CDA, Associate's, or Bachelor's)
- Experience teaching in an early childhood setting
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Passion for working with young children
- Further, any viable candidate will be subject to a full background investigation (including a criminal record check, identification verification, sex offender report, and reference check) following a conditional offer of employment
Job Type: Part Time 9.75 hours a week
Pay: $30.00-32.00 per hour
Expected hours: 8:30am-11:45pm Monday, Wednesday, Friday
