Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated full-time Special Education Teacher to join our team. The role involves implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with autism in a self-contained classroom setting. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including a speech-language pathologist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, social worker, and paraeducator. This position is within a private school and includes a 401K contribution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver instruction in Self-Contained and Resource Classroom environments.
- Utilize diverse instructional strategies, media, and performance assessments to support curriculum objectives and enhance student learning.
- Integrate technology to foster student learning, creativity, and collaboration.
- Establish a classroom environment conducive to learning and aligned with the developmental needs and interests of students.
- Enforce classroom rules and procedures consistently and fairly to maintain order.
- Prepare and adapt lessons for assigned students, with written evidence of preparation available upon request.
- Incorporate Islamic and Quranic philosophy, values, and educational goals into your teaching.
- Regularly assess student progress and maintain communication with parents as needed.
- Collaborate with other school personnel to identify, diagnose, and address the needs of students requiring special education services.
- Take necessary precautions to ensure the safety of students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain accurate and complete records in compliance with legal, district, and administrative requirements.
- Support the administration in enforcing policies and rules governing student conduct and life.
- Pursue ongoing professional development through conferences, workshops, and additional coursework.
- Provide timely updates to parents and external partners as needed.
Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (LBS 1 required).
- Strong communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability in planning, organization, and time management to ensure structure and accountability.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with partners regarding student learning.
- Knowledge of student learning theories and differentiated instruction techniques.
- Experience working with students with autism is required.
- Familiarity with communication, behavior, and sensory interventions is highly preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
