Independent Registered Nurse (1099) – Field Claim ManagerPosition Summary
Odin Industries is seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join our nationwide network of Independent Field Claim Managers. This is a 1099 independent contractor position designed for highly organized RNs who enjoy working independently while serving as an advocate for injured workers and supporting complex insurance claims.
The Field Claim Manager serves as the eyes and ears of our clinical team by attending medical appointments, obtaining medical records, documenting treatment progress, and facilitating communication between the claimant, medical providers, employers, adjusters, attorneys, and the Odin Industries clinical management team.
Assignments are provided on an as-needed basis and may involve workers' compensation, Defense Base Act (DBA), international claims, occupational injury, disability, liability, and other complex medical cases.
Primary Responsibilities
- Attend medical appointments with claimants as an independent nurse representative.
- Observe and document physician evaluations, treatment recommendations, work restrictions, and claimant progress.
- Obtain and organize medical records, diagnostic reports, imaging, and other relevant documentation.
- Coordinate medical record requests with providers, hospitals, therapy clinics, and diagnostic facilities.
- Maintain regular communication with the Odin Industries case management team regarding claim developments.
- Prepare detailed, objective visit summaries and case updates within required turnaround times.
- Identify barriers to treatment, return-to-work issues, appointment delays, or concerns requiring escalation.
- Facilitate communication between providers, adjusters, employers, attorneys, and claim stakeholders as directed.
- Assist with scheduling follow-up appointments, diagnostic testing, and specialty referrals when appropriate.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect confidential health information.
- Travel locally to medical appointments and provider offices.
- Perform other field case management duties consistent with nursing licensure and contractor assignment.
Qualifications
- Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience.
- Prior experience in workers' compensation, case management, occupational health, disability management, insurance, utilization review, or emergency nursing preferred.
- Excellent written documentation skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to communicate professionally with physicians, attorneys, adjusters, employers, and claimants.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and electronic medical records.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel within assigned territory.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preference will be given to nurses with experience in:
- Workers' Compensation
- Defense Base Act (DBA)
- Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act
- Catastrophic injury management
- Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs)
- Occupational medicine
- Rehabilitation case management
- Emergency or trauma nursing
- Air ambulance or medical transport
- International medical assistance

Independent Contractor Status
This position is an independent contractor (1099) engagement and does not constitute employment with Odin Industries. Contractors maintain control over their schedule and methods of performing services while meeting agreed-upon assignment requirements and documentation standards. Contractors are responsible for maintaining all required professional licenses, certifications, insurance, and tax obligations.
