Responsibilities
- Prepare construction painting surfaces by cleaning, sanding, caulking, and applying primers to ensure optimal adhesion and finish quality
- Use hand tools, power tools, paint sprayers (including airless spray systems), brushes, and rollers to apply paints, stains, coatings, and specialty finishes on various surfaces
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and surface preparation instructions to execute precise painting tasks
- Perform structural painting on walls, ceilings, trim carpentry, stucco, masonry, and other architectural features in residential and commercial settings
- Conduct surface testing for color matching using visual color comparison techniques and ensure accurate color application based on client specifications or schematics
- Follow safety regulations rigorously by utilizing respiratory protection equipment and adhering to safety protocols during all phases of painting and surface preparation
- Assist with renovation projects by performing plastering, caulking, fixture installation, framing, drywall finishing, and basic carpentry tasks as needed
Skills
- Strong knowledge of construction estimating processes related to painting projects
- Proficiency in color theory for effective color matching and aesthetic finishes
- Experience with residential painting including interior and exterior applications
- Ability to operate ladders safely for high-reach areas and scaffolding when necessary
- Skilled in construction site experience with surface preparation for industrial or commercial painting projects
- Familiarity with blueprint reading and interpreting technical drawings or schematics for precise execution
- Knowledge of safety regulations related to construction painting including respiratory protection and hazard awareness
- Competence in using hand tools, power tools, paint sprayers (including conventional spraying), airless systems, brushes, rollers, and other application equipment
- Understanding of coating types such as primers, sealers, stains, lacquers, epoxies for various substrates
- Experience with restoration work involving plastering, stucco application, masonry repair or renovation projects
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations during project planning or surface estimation
- Additional handyman skills like carpentry (trim carpentry), fixture installation or welding are a plus but not required
