Payroll Specialist (Contract)
Contract Length: 3 months with possible extension
About the Role
Our Client is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our team on a contract basis. This role is responsible for processing scheduled multi-state weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payroll, as well as occasional off-cycle payments. You will manage payroll across several Federal EINs, covering both hourly and salaried employees, union and non-union. Accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality are paramount.
You will also prepare and submit invoices for payroll funding, tax payments, and third-party payments, while ensuring compliance with company policies and federal, state, and local laws.
Key Responsibilities
- Payroll processing: Execute weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and off-cycle payroll with precision.
- Compensation management: Handle special compensation and bonus payments.
- Invoice preparation: Submit payroll funding, tax payments, and vendor invoices on time.
- Collaboration: Work closely with HR and Accounting to ensure smooth data flow and reconciliations.
- Audit compliance: Maintain records, respond to audit requests, and support year-end procedures.
- Process improvement: Test system updates, recommend efficiencies, and minimize risk.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of multi-state payroll and union payroll experience.
- Workday payroll and time entry experience preferred (imports/manual inputs).
- Experience with tax registrations, payments, and vendor management.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills; advanced Excel preferred.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
