1.Performs general maintenance such as grounds and facilities maintenance, street and sidewalk repair, drainage ditches and storm drains, sewer and water lines, recreational and playground equipment, street and traffic signs.2.Prepares equipment, vehicles, and tools for work assignments.3.Performs repair work such as general carpentry, janitorial duties and minor maintenance on equipment as needed.4.Cleans and services equipment as needed.5.Responds to calls as required outside normal District hours. May be subject to 24 hour call out.6.Assists other crewmembers and co-workers as assigned. 7.Must maintain vehicles to District standards. 8.Must follow District safety requirements.9.Perform all other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesSkill in the proper use of hand tools and operation of equipment for assigned work areas such as operating equipment, pumps, mowers, tractors, post hole diggers, utility system equipment, etc.Ability to follow instructions, safety practices, and standard operating procedures in performing assigned tasks.Ability to perform heavy manual labor and to work in adverse weather conditions, confined spaces, and extreme heights when needed.Ability to meet training requirements.Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Ability to read, write, and speak the English language. Ability to effectively communicate with staff and with the public. Ability to follow all District rules, regulations, and policies. Ability to work a two-way radio/cellular phone. EducationHigh School diploma or GED.ExperienceNo experience required.
Required to pass a pre-employment drug test. Required to pass a pre-employment background check.Pre-employment physical will be required. Must possess a valid State of Texas Class "C" Driver's License.
