Job Title: Bucket Truck Driver / Groundsman – Tree Service
Job Summary:
We're looking for a hardworking, reliable Bucket Truck Driver and Groundsman to join our tree service crew. This role is a mix of driving and hands-on field work. You'll operate the bucket truck safely on the road and at job sites, and you'll work on the ground supporting the climbing crew — dragging brush, feeding the chipper, and keeping the site clean and safe. Pay starts based on experience and goes up from there. A CDL is a plus and earns a higher starting rate. This job is physically demanding and often requires overtime, especially during storm season. If you're not afraid of hard work and want to grow with a solid crew, this is the spot.
Key Responsibilities – Driver:
- Safely operate bucket truck (Class A / B CDL preferred) to and from job sites
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections; report maintenance needs
- Set up truck safely on site — outriggers, cones, signage
- Position bucket for climber access as directed by crew lead
- Keep truck cab and bed organized and clean
Key Responsibilities – Groundsman:
- Drag, stack, and load brush, branches, and logs for removal
- Feed chipper safely and efficiently
- Rake and clean up debris from lawns, driveways, and streets
- Assist climbers with gear, ropes, and lowering ropes
- Operate chainsaw, blower, and other equipment as trained and qualified
- Direct traffic and maintain a safe work zone around the crew
- Load and unload equipment and materials at the yard
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly and work on your feet all day
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather (heat, cold, rain, mud)
- Willing to work overtime, including weekends when needed (storm response, peak season)
- Valid driver's license required; CDL (Class A or B) preferred — pay increase for CDL holders
- Prior tree service, landscaping, construction, or general labor experience a plus
- Reliable transportation to the shop/yard each morning
- Safety-minded and able to follow directions from the crew lead
Compensation:
- Starting pay based on experience (non-CDL / CDL rates)
- CDL bonus / higher starting wage
- Overtime paid at time-and-a-half
- Opportunity to advance to climber or crew lead with experience
Pay: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
Benefits:
- On-the-job training
- Opportunities for advancement
- Safety equipment provided
Work Location: On the road
