Job Description: Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Wellesley Family Care is a thriving primary care practice based in Needham, Massachusetts. We are a private (independent) practice affiliated with the Mass General Brigham System with a focus on individualized evidence-based care for the whole family. We also highly value teamwork and collaboration and have built a team culture of safety, competence, and fun. We currently have twenty-two primary care clinicians on our team and have a strong growth trajectory into new business and practice initiatives. We are looking for a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our practice.
Position Summary
The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner will provide psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, medication management, and behavioral health consultation within a busy family medicine practice. Working closely with primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, care managers, and support staff, the PMHNP will play a key role in developing an integrated behavioral health program that improves access to mental health services and enhances patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
Direct Patient Care
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults.
- Diagnose and treat a broad range of psychiatric and behavioral health conditions, including:
- Depression
- Anxiety disorders
- ADHD
- Bipolar disorder
- PTSD
- Adjustment disorders
- Substance use disorders
- Sleep disorders
- Develop individualized treatment plans utilizing evidence-based approaches.
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications.
- Monitor treatment effectiveness and medication compliance.
- Provide brief therapeutic interventions and behavioral health counseling as appropriate.
- Assess and manage psychiatric crises, including suicide risk assessments and safety planning.
Integrated Care & Collaboration
- Serve as a behavioral health resource for primary care providers.
- Collaborate closely with physicians and advanced practice providers to support patients with coexisting medical and mental health conditions.
- Participate in multidisciplinary care planning and case reviews.
- Facilitate referrals to therapists, specialty psychiatry, community agencies, and higher levels of care when needed.
- Assist in developing behavioral health workflows and best practices within the practice.
Program Development
- Help establish and grow WFCA's integrated behavioral health services.
- Contribute to the development of screening, referral, and treatment protocols.
- Support population health initiatives related to behavioral health.
- Participate in quality improvement efforts and outcome measurement.

Qualifications
Required
- Master's or Doctoral Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Current Massachusetts RN and APRN licensure.
- Board Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
- DEA Registration and Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration.
- Strong diagnostic, clinical assessment, and psychopharmacology skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Preferred
- Experience in primary care, family medicine, integrated behavioral health, or outpatient psychiatry.
- Experience treating patients across the lifespan.
- Familiarity with collaborative care models.
- Experience working with electronic health records (eClinicalWorks, Epic, or similar platforms).

Pay: $180,000.00 - $240,000.00 per year
