Duties
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and dietary recommendations.
- Assist the dentist during examinations.
- Take dental radiographs while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Review medical records, document findings accurately in Curve while in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Monitor patient comfort throughout procedures, with dental terminology expertise.
- Maintain infection control standards by sterilizing instruments, managing dental supplies, and practicing proper aseptic techniques.
- Assist with administrative tasks like scheduling appointments, reviewing documentation for accuracy, and supporting medical coding processes when necessary.
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice.
- Proven experience in general dentistry or dental clinic environments.
- Proficiency with Curve dental software to provide proper documentation, scheduling and treatment planning.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and medical terminology.
- Ability to perform vital signs assessment accurately and handle medical imaging equipment safely.
- Familiarity with EMR systems, medical coding practices, and HIPAA compliance standards.
- Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach.
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a team environment.
