Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced DME Medical Biller to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of Durable Medical Equipment billing, Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance claims processing, reimbursement guidelines, and accounts receivable management. This position plays a critical role in ensuring timely claim submission, payment posting, denial resolution, and compliance with all payer regulations.
The successful candidate must be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple payer requirements while maintaining exceptional accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and submit electronic and paper claims for Durable Medical Equipment services and supplies
- Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, authorizations, and coverage requirements
- Ensure documentation meets payer guidelines before claim submission
- Bill Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, managed care, and workers’ compensation claims
- Follow up on unpaid claims, denied claims, and underpayments
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies and claim rejections
- Post insurance payments, adjustments, and patient payments accurately
- Process secondary claims and patient statements
- Maintain accurate accounts receivable and aging reports
- Work closely with intake, customer service, and clinical staff to obtain required documentation
- Stay current on CMS, Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer billing regulations
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality of patient information
- Assist with audits, compliance reviews, and revenue cycle reporting
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred
- Minimum 2 years of medical billing experience required
- Minimum 1 year of DME billing experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of HCPCS, ICD-10, CPT, modifiers, and Medicare documentation requirements
- Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance billing
- Knowledge of CMNs, prior authorizations, and documentation requirements
- Proficiency with billing software, EMR systems, and Microsoft Office
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Education:
- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience:
- PHC Billing: 1 year (Preferred)
