Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and energetic Business Development Associate to join our growing team! In this role, you will be at the forefront of expanding our business footprint by identifying new opportunities, building strong relationships, and driving revenue growth through strategic outreach. This role serves as the primary resource for prospecting, lead generation, market research, and outreach activities. Working directly with the Sr. Account Manager and the sales team, the Business Development Associate will leverage AI-powered research tools, LinkedIn, social selling, email campaigns, and market intelligence to identify and engage prospective customers while helping generate qualified opportunities for the organization.
Primary Responsibilities
New Business Development & Prospecting
- Identify prospective retail accounts, distributors, e-commerce partners, and strategic business opportunities.
- Build and maintain prospect pipelines for all MCS brands and product categories.
- Utilize AI research tools, LinkedIn, social media platforms, retailer websites, industry databases, and market intelligence resources to uncover opportunities.
- Conduct initial outreach through email, LinkedIn, phone calls, and other approved channels.
- Create and manage outreach campaigns, drip sequences, and prospect nurturing activities.
- Research buyers, merchants, category managers, and decision-makers within target organizations.
- Schedule meetings and introductions for the sales team.
- Track prospect activity and pipeline progression within company systems.
Social Selling & Digital Outreach
- Develop and maintain a professional LinkedIn presence.
- Support B2B social media content initiatives designed to drive engagement and prospect awareness.
- Create prospecting campaigns utilizing LinkedIn, email, and other digital channels.
- Monitor engagement and identify follow-up opportunities.
- Assist in developing repeatable sales outreach workflows utilizing AI and automation tools.
Market Research & Intelligence
- Conduct retailer, category, and competitive research.
- Utilize company AI tools and external resources to identify trends, opportunities, and market gaps.
- Complete retailer assessments and market opportunity reports.
- Research competitors, emerging brands, product categories, and merchandising strategies.
- Present findings and recommendations to sales leadership.
Sales Support & Account Management
- Support Sr. Account Manager and the broader sales team with account-related projects and initiatives.
- Assist with retailer presentations, line reviews, customer follow-up, and project coordination.
- Manage smaller customer opportunities as assigned.
- Participate in customer meetings to gain experience and industry knowledge.
- Collaborate with Product Development, Design, Planning, Marketing, and Operations teams to support customer needs.
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- LinkedIn Sales Navigator or similar prospecting tools.
- Retail, consumer products, e-commerce, or merchandising experience.
- Digital marketing or social media experience with Market research and competitive analysis.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
- Comfortable utilizing AI tools and emerging technologies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Ability to conduct independent research and analyze information.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
