Job Description:
Thomas Instrument is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Programmer to develop, optimize, and support CNC programs for complex precision aerospace components manufactured on CNC turning centers. This role focuses on multi-axis lathes equipped with live tooling, Y-axis machining, C-axis interpolation, sub-spindles, and bar-fed production equipment. The successful candidate will develop efficient machining processes while supporting production and improving manufacturing performance.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize CNC programs for complex aerospace components on CNC turning centers.
- Read and understand the sequences and detailed steps on work orders / routers.
- Develop complete machining strategies that minimize cycle time while maintaining quality.
- Collaborates with Manufacturing Engineering and Quality to improve machining processes.
- Manages programming assignments while actively supporting the shop floor.
- Selects application specific tooling to ensure quality, longevity, and efficiency.
- Develop, design, and create blueprints for fixtures and custom tooling.
- Troubleshoots setups, feed and speeds, tooling, and machine issues in a manufacturing environment.
- Anticipates and manages change.
- Design fixtures and custom workholding solutions when required.
- Support first article builds and prove-out of new programs.
Experience
- Preferred experience working with CATIA NC DELMIA (V6 or 3DEXPERIENCE R2019X) programming software preferred but not required.). Suitable alternatives are CATIA NC V5, NX(CAM) or Pro-E(CAM).
- Experience programming high precision parts in a range of common aerospace materials.
- Strong blueprint reading skills.
- Demonstrated GD&T proficiency.
- Robust understanding of turning operations.
