Duties
- Prepare ingredients and assist in meal assembly according to established recipes and menu standards
- Operate various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, mixers, slicers, and knives
- Follow food safety protocols and handle food properly to ensure hygiene and quality standards are met
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen appliances through regular cleaning routines
- Support menu planning by preparing ingredients in advance for upcoming meals or catering events
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate food preparation schedules and ensure timely service
- Assist with food presentation and garnishing to enhance visual appeal of dishes
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a dietary department, dietary aide role, or food service environment is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of food handling safety standards and food safety management practices
- Skilled in food preparation techniques including slicing, dicing, chopping, and cooking methods
- Proficient in operating kitchen equipment safely and effectively
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members in a fast-paced setting
- Ability to follow recipes precisely and adhere to meal preparation guidelines
- Experience in catering or restaurant environments is a plus
- Demonstrated knife skills with proper slicing techniques and attention to detail
