In this dynamic role, you'll help bring Downtown West Palm Beach to life by coordinating public space initiatives, community programs, and special events that enhance the downtown experience. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and skilled in project management, event logistics, stakeholder engagement, and vendor coordination. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while supporting initiatives that foster a vibrant, connected community.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Understanding how downtown districts, public spaces, and communities function and how placemaking impacts economic vitality, social connection, and urban experience.
- Working knowledge of the way in which cities function; understands the social and environmental impact of planning decisions on communities.
- Working knowledge of event planning, production, and post-production evaluation
- Knowledge of placemaking principles, public engagement strategies, and community focused programming initiatives.
- Knowledge of best practices in project management and evaluation methods
- Knowledge of clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures
- Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products and applicable organization / job function software
- Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Skill in adapting to a changing work environment, competing demands and ability to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events
- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and operational priorities while maintaining quality standards and responsiveness.

- Ability to regularly attend work and arrive punctually for designated work schedule. Position requires frequent evening and weekend work during peak events and programming seasons.
- Ability to attend meetings, community events, professional networking events, and training outside the DDA office and standard business hours, including some nights and weekends as needed.
Examples of Work performed:
- Plans and executes placemaking projects and activations from concept through completion, including permitting, creative design, timelines, vendor/volunteer coordination, set up, on-site management, and breakdown to ensure successful implementation of community engagement and public space programming.
- Assists with the initial planning and development of temporary activations, pilot projects, tactical urbanism initiatives, public art programs, and other placemaking efforts.
- Coordinates project timelines, meetings, deliverables, action items, and follow-up communication to ensure successful project execution.
- Builds and maintains relationships with residents, businesses, visitors, and community organizations; identifies neighborhood partners and community leaders to support participation and program success.
- Coordinates meetings and workshops with key stakeholders and provides administrative and logistical support including notetaking and follow-up communication.
- Proactively identifies operational needs, project challenges, and potential solutions to support successful implementation of programs and initiatives.
- Assists with the execution and the gathering and organizing of initial information for programs and projects to provide public realm team and marketing team for the further development of their own deliverables.
- Collects, organizes, and assists in analyzing data related to program participation, public life data collection, pedestrian activity, stakeholder feedback, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Researches and maintains a comprehensive placemaking knowledge database that includes toolkits, grants, and upcoming workshops and webinars.
Pay: $48,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
