Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Maintenance Assistant to join our dynamic facilities team. In this vital role, you will support the maintenance and repair of our residential and commercial properties, ensuring a safe, functional, and welcoming environment. Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on building systems, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC components.
- Assist with troubleshooting and repairing equipment using schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters.
- Conduct residential painting projects, touch-ups, and surface preparations to maintain property aesthetics.
- Support welding tasks and mechanical repairs requiring specialized skills to ensure equipment operates efficiently.
- Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to document work orders, track maintenance activities, and schedule future tasks.
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to accurately diagnose issues.
- Supervise or assist with facilities maintenance projects while ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times.
- Collaborate with team members to deliver excellent customer service by addressing residents’ maintenance requests promptly and professionally.
- Support leadership in supervising junior staff or apprentices as needed, fostering a team-oriented environment.
Experience
- Proven experience in facilities maintenance or a related field within manufacturing or residential settings.
- Strong electrical experience including working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and electrical schematics.
- Mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in welding, plumbing, or HVAC systems is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with CMMS software for work order management and record keeping.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals accurately.
- Experience supervising or leading small teams is a plus but not mandatory.
