Gene Cheng, MD is a fast-paced, patient-centered independent practice dedicated to providing high-quality care to our community in Augusta. We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our clinical team and help ensure the seamless daily operation of our practice. MA certification is preferred but not required. CNA's are encouraged to apply.
Position Summary
The Medical Assistant will be responsible for providing critical support to Dr. Cheng. You will balance hands-on clinical care with front-office administrative workflows, acting as a primary liaison between our patients, Dr. Cheng, and other hospital networks.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties:
- Prepare patients for examination, including verifying medical histories and confirming the purpose of their visit.
- Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, weight, and temperature.
- Assist Dr. Cheng with minor procedures and in-office treatments.
- Administer injections/medications as directed.
- Manage clinical inventory, and restock exam rooms.
Administrative Duties:
- Update and maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) and patient charts.
- Answer patient calls, triage needs appropriately, and assist front desk receptionist with checkin-checkout protocols.
- Execute prescription refills and communicate lab results or instructions authorized by the provider.
- Filing paper charts and faxing documents.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: High School diploma or GED required. Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred but not required. Certified Nursing Assistants are encouraged to apply.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of clinical or managed care experience strongly preferred but not required
- Skills: Proficiency with EHR systems, knowledge of medical terminology, and excellent time management skills are required.
Soft Skills: High emotional intelligence, strong verbal/written communication, and demonstrated empathy and compassion toward patients.
Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
