American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a mixed-acuity Med/Surg Telemetry Oncology unit, with night shift availability and oncology experience preferred but not required.

Mixed-acuity PCU and Med/Surg Tele unit caring for medical oncology patients, with approximately 24 PCU beds and 24 MS Tele beds

Patient population includes a variety of diagnoses ranging from solid tumors to blood cancers with a high-acuity focus

Target staffing ratio of 1:4-5, though actual ratios may vary based on unit needs

Shift: nights, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)

Weekend shifts are variable

Self-scheduling requests are submitted by the traveler prior to the final schedule being posted

Orientation begins with one week of Mon–Fri day shifts, followed by a second week of 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor

Floating required within units of equivalent or lower acuity
-
Equipment used includes GE B450 telemetry monitors, Alaris pumps, PCA pumps, bladder scanner, and continuous bladder irrigation setup

Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention

Active OH RN license or compact RN license required

Current BLS (BCLS) certification required

Minimum 2 years of oncology experience preferred but not required

Previous travel nursing experience preferred

2 professional references required: at least 1 must be from a Manager, Director, or formal leadership role (e.g., Supervisor); a Charge RN is acceptable as the second reference; co-worker references are not accepted

Chemotherapy competency is not required; the facility offers an optional 2-day chemo course for professional development if the traveler is interested

Pediatric patients are occasionally present on the unit but are extremely rare and would typically be cared for by permanent staff — pediatric experience is not required

Ohio state fingerprinting is required and must be completed promptly after booking; candidates outside Ohio will need to travel to an in-state fingerprinting location or complete a mailed fingerprinting packet as soon as it is received

Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers

Former employees of the facility are eligible for a travel assignment after being away for at least 6 months

RTO must be requested at the time of submission, built into the contract, and is limited to 7 days or fewer
