The Purchasing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily procurement operations and ensuring the timely acquisition of raw materials, consumables, supplies, and services necessary to support company operations. This role manages supplier relationships, negotiates pricing and contracts, monitors inventory levels, and drives cost-saving initiatives while maintaining quality and service standards.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong procurement, inventory management, and supplier management experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
- Lead daily purchasing and procurement activities.
- Review and approve purchase orders and requisitions.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery terms with suppliers.
- Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships.
- Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages and excess inventory.
- Coordinate with production, warehouse, logistics, and accounting teams.
- Track shipments and resolve delivery, quality, and invoicing issues.
- Analyze purchasing trends and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and procurement reports.
- Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and procedures.
- Supervise and develop purchasing staff.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and inventory planning activities.
- Monitor procurement KPIs including supplier performance, cost savings, and on-time delivery.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancements.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- CPSM, CPP, or other procurement certifications.
- Manufacturing, industrial, or textile industry experience.
- Experience with inventory control and forecasting.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
