Position Title: Academic Intervention Specialist Newport, MI 48166

Location: North Elementary
Reports To: Building Principal
Salary: $150/day
Job Goal: Will work to supplement current Title I plans and current curriculum practices. This position is paid through
EduStaff.
Qualifications:
Possess a valid, current Michigan teaching certificate or other qualifications deemed appropriate for an Intervention
Specialist (MDE requirements as a substitute teacher)
Role:
- Engages in research based best-practices that promote a successful learning environment for students.
- Social/emotional support to at-risk students.
- Utilizes appropriate content standards and benchmarks in preparing, delivering, and assessing student
learning.
- Provide Intervention/Enrichment time with designated small groups of students
- Contribute information to and assist in maintaining assessment records
- Make recommendations of next steps for instruction to the classroom teacher
- Maintain ongoing communication with classroom teacher about student progress and assessment
documentation
- Differentiate small group instruction to meet student needs
- Support procedural building needs
- Participate in building professional development
