This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with diverse metal materials, utilize advanced welding techniques, and contribute to large-scale projects that demand mechanical knowledge and safety adherence.
Duties
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to determine welding specifications and procedures.
- Perform combination welding tasks using FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) techniques in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards.
- Use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, shop math, and measuring tapes to ensure precise cuts and welds on sheet metal, structural steel, and other metal materials.
- Operate power tools, plasma cutters, and machining equipment for cutting, shaping, and assembling metal components.
- Fabricate metal structures by cutting, welding, grinding, and assembling parts according to mechanical blueprints and technical drawings.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols on construction sites or within fabrication shops to maintain a safe working environment for all team members.
- Inspect completed welds using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments to verify quality and compliance with project specifications.
Qualifications
- Proven construction site experience with a strong understanding of metal fabrication processes.
- Proficiency in multiple welding techniques including FCAW, MIG welding, TIG welding, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding.
- Ability to read mechanical blueprints and interpret technical drawings accurately.
- Experience working with sheet metal fabrication and structural steel assembly in a shop or construction environment.
- Familiarity with the use of hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, machining equipment, and measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
- Mechanical knowledge related to fabrication shop operations and construction site requirements.
- Strong understanding of AWS standards for welding quality assurance.
- Ability to perform shop math calculations necessary for precise measurements and fabrication tasks.
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to welding operations and construction environments.
