Job Summary
The School Resource Officer Unit, in cooperation with the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation, and the Catholic Diocese of Evansville, provides assistance to students in the areas of safety, law enforcement, and good citizenship. The officers assigned to this unit investigate crimes committed by students and provide students with a proper role model for good citizenship, counseling when requested on personal and family problems, and information on a wide range of subjects.
This position is a starting annual salary of $53,000.

Education and Experience
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a sworn police officer, with prior law enforcement employment ending no longer than six (6) years from date of appointment to the EPD.
- Must have successfully completed the minimum basic training and educational requirements adopted by the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board under IC 5-2-1-9 as necessary for employment as a law enforcement officer.

- Noise levels may vary depending upon the daily activities within the work environment, including the number of people in the room.
- Work environment is frequently interrupted, requiring the employee to meet multiple demands from several people.
- Employee must constantly work to meet essential duties and responsibilities as an EPD Police Officer.
- Employee must drive and transport subjects from the school building to other sites, including YCC, VCCC, and student homes and other locations.
- Employee must work during school hours.

- Must have the ability to effect an arrest based on probably cause under Indiana code and be able to use appropriate force up to and including lethal force.
- While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.

- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
