We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist to join our Talent Management team. You will support core HR operations across onboarding and offboarding, payroll, benefits, compliance, HRIS, compensation, performance management, employee relations, employee engagement, recruiting and development support. The role is hybrid, non-exempt, reports to the Human Resources Director and is based in the Los Angeles office.
The expected pay range for the position of Human Resources Generalist at Nossaman is $80,000 to $85,000 per year. The successful candidate’s salary for this position is reasonably expected to be set within this range. However, actual compensation will depend on a variety of factors, including, without limitation, the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
What Success Looks Like:
- Onboarding and offboarding are managed timely, accurately and in compliance with Firm procedures, including new hire documentation, I-9 verification, HRIS setup, exit interviews and separation workflows
- Payroll and HRIS processes are supported with strong attention to data accuracy, lifecycle updates, auditing, reconciliation, reporting and system integrations
- Recurring HR reports, metrics, dashboards, census materials, Talent Management activity reports, survey responses, audit materials, RFP support and compliance filings are prepared accurately and on schedule
- Benefits operations, open enrollment, employee communications, Firm intranet updates, leaves of absence, accommodations, FMLA, CFRA, ADA and workers’ compensation matters are supported in coordination with the appropriate Talent Management team members
- Firmwide compensation, performance review, training and development processes are supported with careful coordination, follow-through and responsiveness
- Compliance and employee relations matters are supported with sound judgment, confidentiality, strong documentation and well-organized intake, investigation, performance, corrective action and policy materials
- Employee engagement, culture, recognition programs and related communications are supported in a way that promotes a positive and consistent employee experience across the Firm
- The Talent Management function receives flexible cross-functional support, including policy and procedure updates, workflow improvements, HR technology enhancements, AI-enabled tools and automation and backup recruiting support as priorities evolve
Experience & Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Human Resources experience in a law firm or other professional services environment, with demonstrated exposure to multiple HR functional areas; experience supporting a multi-office or national professional services organization is preferred
- Experience with human resources information systems (HRIS), preferably ADP and proficiency with viDesktop, iManage and Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience supporting HR reporting, analytics, data management, audits, process improvement initiatives, HR technology, automation tools and AI-enabled solutions
- Working knowledge of employee relations, performance management, leaves of absence administration and applicable federal, state and local employment laws and regulations
- Strong communication, interpersonal and client service skills, with the ability to interact professionally and build effective working relationships at all levels of the Firm
- Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, work under pressure to meet strict deadlines and effectively prioritize multiple tasks
Education & Additional Details:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; SHRM-CP or similar certification preferred
- Law firm or professional services HR experience preferred
- This position may require prolonged periods of standing and/or sitting
