DESCRIPTION:
This is a skilled position involving the repair and preventative maintenance of various mechanical systems at wastewater
facilities. Duties involve responsibility for independently performing a variety of skilled repair and maintenance tasks on
mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. In addition, the incumbent performs specialized maintenance on motors,
gear boxes, pumps, and conveyors, electric, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. General direction is received from the
Chief Maintenance Mechanic with leeway given to exercise independent judgement in carrying out assignments. Direct
supervision is exercised over skilled and unskilled workers and subordinate maintenance staff. The incumbent does relat-ed work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and five (5) years of experience working
at a wastewater treatment plant or similar industrial facility, two (2) of which were in a millwright role/capacity.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Eligibility for and possession of a valid New York State driver’s license at time of appointment and continuously thereafter.
