We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our established metal fabrication firm, which has been operating for over five decades. As we pivot toward increased automation, we are expanding our engineering team through both new hires and internal promotions. This role is designed for someone who wants to move beyond simple desk-based CAD tasks; you will manage projects from their initial design phase all the way through to final implementation on our production floor. It is a dynamic position that blends mechanical design, project management, and hands-on manufacturing problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities

Manage the full lifecycle of engineering projects, from initial concept and design to final production support and post-implementation review.

Develop and update 3D models, technical drawings, and engineering documentation using SolidWorks or similar CAD software.

Convert client concepts into functional designs, ensuring they are optimized for efficient production.

Utilize Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to help reduce costs and improve overall production capability.

Facilitate the transition of new products from the prototype phase into consistent, repeatable manufacturing processes.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project timelines, technical requirements, and priorities are met.

Improve shop floor efficiency by working directly with operators and supervisors to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges.

Drive continuous improvement by identifying ways to minimize waste, simplify production steps, and increase throughput.

Enhance production performance by assisting with the development of new tooling, fixtures, and equipment-related initiatives.

Ensure all project documentation, including BOMs and revision records, remains accurate as designs evolve.
Required Qualifications

Hold a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

Possess practical experience in product design, project engineering, or a similar technical role.

Demonstrate proficiency in 3D CAD software, with a strong preference for SolidWorks expertise.

Show a clear ability to interpret and generate complex engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications.

Maintain a proactive approach to working directly with production teams to ensure operational success.

Bring relevant experience with metal fabrication, such as welding, sheet metal, or machining processes.

Manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously while effectively communicating with stakeholders and vendors.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement by seeking out ways to make manufacturing processes more cost-effective and consistent.
