Job Title: Pharmacist – Closed Door Pharmacy

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and highly organized Pharmacist to join our Closed Door Pharmacy team. This role is focused on supporting long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, and institutional clients by ensuring accurate medication dispensing, regulatory compliance, and clinical oversight. The pharmacist will work in a non-customer-facing environment, collaborating with pharmacy technicians and healthcare providers to deliver high-quality pharmaceutical care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify prescription accuracy and appropriateness for patients in long-term care and institutional settings.
- Oversee and check the preparation, packaging, and labeling of medications.
- Provide clinical review of medication orders, including drug utilization, interactions, and contraindications.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state pharmacy laws and institutional policies.
- Supervise and mentor pharmacy technicians to maintain workflow efficiency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with nursing and facility staff to resolve medication-related issues.
- Participate in quality assurance and medication error prevention programs.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records for audits and regulatory inspections.
- Manage inventory levels, including controlled substances, and ensure secure storage and documentation.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution.
- Current and active Pharmacist license in the state of [Insert State].
- Previous experience in a closed door, institutional, or long-term care pharmacy preferred.
- Strong knowledge of geriatric pharmacotherapy and regulatory requirements (e.g., CMS, DEA, state board of pharmacy).
- Proficient in pharmacy software systems and electronic medical records (EMR).

- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Working Conditions:
- Closed door, non-retail setting (no walk-in customer interaction).
- Primarily day shifts with occasional evenings, weekends, or on-call responsibilities.
- Requires standing for extended periods and occasional lifting.
- Use of PPE may be required when handling specific medications or hazardous drugs.
