Duties
- Prepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes, ensuring consistency and quality in every dish
- Assist with menu planning by suggesting new ideas and refining existing recipes to enhance flavor profiles
- Handle food preparation tasks such as chopping, slicing using proper knife skills, and portioning ingredients efficiently
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety standards and proper food handling procedures throughout all stages of meal production
- Support catering events by preparing large quantities of food while maintaining quality and presentation standards
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of workstations, equipment, and storage areas in compliance with safety regulations
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal service times, prioritize tasks, and ensure timely delivery of orders
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or restaurant settings with a strong understanding of kitchen operations
- Knowledge of dietary department practices and dietary aide experience is a plus for accommodating special dietary needs
- Expertise in menu planning, meal preparation, and food industry best practices to optimize efficiency and quality
- Skilled in food safety management, including proper food handling, sanitation procedures, and safety standards in production
- Excellent knife skills with proficiency in slicing techniques to ensure precision and safety during food prep
- Familiarity with catering services and serving techniques to support large-scale events or daily service needs
- Strong understanding of safety standards in production environments combined with the ability to work quickly under pressure
