Job description – Senior Tax Accountant:
As a Senior Tax Accountant, your primary responsibilities will be the preparation of business and individual tax returns and all aspects related to accomplishing this. In addition to tax preparation, this position will be involved in month-end closings; balance sheet reconciliations; management reporting and preparation of financial statements (primarily compiled or reviewed)
Daily responsibilities of Senior Tax Accountant include:
- Preparation and review of C-corporation, S-corporation, Partnership and Fiduciary tax returns.
- Preparation of individual tax returns.
- Preparation of tax projections.
- Participation in month end accounting close.
- Management and preparation of period end reports.
- Review of general ledger activities and related balance sheet reconciliations.
- Research and consultation on various tax matters.
- Comply with appropriate and relevant principles and standards.
- Preparation of compiled and reviewed financial statements, including checklists.
- Assist in external audits.
- Supervise, train, and mentor junior staff.
- Communicate progress of engagements, issues, and resolutions to clients through written and verbal correspondence.
- Anticipate problem areas of engagement and develop procedures to address relevant issues; keep supervisors informed of important developments and recommend solutions.
Job requirements of Senior Tax Accountant include:
- Attentiveness to detail – this is the most important requirement for this position.
- Excellent knowledge of tax, accounting, and related topics such as payroll and sales tax.
- Experience using MS Office with a proficiency in MS Excel.
- QuickBooks proficiency.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines, multi-task, and be well organized.
- Familiarity with the following is a plus, but not required: Engagement, Practice Management, Lacerte, and/or Workstream.
- A minimum of five years related work experience.
- CPA firm experience a must.
