Directs and controls vehicular and pedestrian traffic at work sites to ensure the safety of workers, motorists, and pedestrians. Sets up traffic control devices such as cones, signs, and barricades to guide traffic flow. Communicates effectively with coworkers and the public to coordinate traffic movements and ensure safety protocols are followed. Monitors traffic flow and adjusts signals as needed to prevent congestion and accidents. Works in various weather conditions and may be required to stand for long periods of time. Follows safety guidelines and protocols to minimize risks and maintain a safe work environment.
Essential Functions
• Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards.
• Respond to emergencies as directed and perform tasks in the interest of public safety and property protection during emergencies.
• Operate pickups and flatbed trucks (not requiring a commercial driver’s license) and miscellaneous hand tools in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.
• Conduct routine equipment maintenance and daily equipment inspections according to standards.
• Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
• Measure, mark, or record openings or distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performed.
• Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans or specifications.
• Attend regularly scheduled training such as ATSSA Technician, ATSSA Supervisor, ATSSA Flagger, and OSHA 10 hour.
• Perform traffic control and flagging activities as needed.
• Follow safety rules and regulations on all work zone and flagging sites, including placing signs, barricades, traffic cones, and other warning devices. Control traffic passing near, in, or around work zones.

Responsibilities Education
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Experience
• Previous construction experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Must be able to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands.
• Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
• Must have a and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Must have DOT Health Card (provided at completion of DOT physical and drug screen).

• Stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time; grip, climb, reach, shovel, squat, crawl, or pull, push, as well as bend and lift at least 45 pounds.

• Must be able to work required overtime and flexible work schedule.
• Will work outdoors and exposed to varying and/or extreme weather conditions.
• May work in high and/or precarious places or cramped work space that requires getting into awkward positions.
